The Professionals In Human Resources Association (PIHRA) The Professionals In Human Resources Association (PIHRA) was founded as the Personnel and Industrial Relations Association in 1944 by a small group of Los Angeles personnel executives. They organized to provide a forum in which Human Resource professionals could exchange ideas, increase their knowledge of and work together for the betterment of the profession. PIHRA includes the counties of Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino. PIHRA is a non-profit California corporation with a volunteer Board of Directors who serve without compensation. It provides regional programs and support through sixteen PIHRA Districts located throughout its five county area. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is the world’s largest association devoted to human resource management. Representing more than 250,000 members in over 140 countries, the Society serves the needs of HR professionals and advances the interests of the HR profession. Full-day seminars are scheduled by PIHRA early in the year and District 6 typically focuses their November meeting on a year-end update at our regular meeting.
